Mission Training Center (MTC) is a two month intensive training program designed for students specifically called to serve the Lord in a cross-cultural context. Students will learn from teachers with years of experience in planting missional churches, discipleship, and evangelism with the intention of empowering every believer to fulfill their responsibility to the Great Commission.
How to apply
Step One
- Pray. Seek God for His will and direction before applying.
- Speak to your pastor or spiritual counselor for confirmation.
- Introduce yourself by using the First Contact Form to let us know of your interest in the program.
- You will receive notice if you should proceed with the application.
Step Two
- Read through each step of the application process before beginning.
- Note that none of the data online can be saved or retrieved if you lose connection. We recommend you print out the entire application by clicking the download button below and then either scan and email us the packet, keep a copy and mail us the packet, or come back to the online form to type and submit it in one session.
- If you have not yet connected with the MTC director of operations or senior leaders, please first complete the MTC First Contact Form to inform us of your interest.
- Please do not complete the long application before receiving approval to proceed.

- Once you submit the application you will be notified by phone or email of acceptance into the course
- DO NOT make any flight arrangements or travel plans before getting approval. Agape International will not cover the cost of any travel to or from Thailand.

Who Should Attend?
- Any mature believer led to apply may do so, but space is limited and priority is being given to those who have attended Synergy School of Ministry, or have equivalent biblical education or leadership experience with a letter of recommendation from their pastor.
- This course is intended for those seeking to enter a mission field that crosses cultural boundaries; especially within the 10/40 window.
What are the requirements for attendance?
- You must at least 18 years of age.
- Have a valid Passport.
- You must be able to speak, read and write in the English language.
- If married, you must attend with your spouse*.
- Complete the MTC First Contact form if you have not received permission to apply.
- Have a letter of recommendation from your pastor.
- Provide two personal references.
- You must agree with the tenants of our faith.
- Be in good physical health (be able to sit for extended lectures, able to see and hear instructor, walk for extended periods on outreaches, and climb flights of stairs to and from accommodations).
- After receiving approval, complete the application form.
- If you meet the qualifications, you may be required to complete an interview with our selection committee.
- Receive approval by the MTC training director before making any travel arrangements.
Where is the training held?
- The in-person training center is located in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
- The training center is approximately a 20 minute drive from Chiang Mai International Airport: CNX
- Transportation to and from the airport will be provided at no extra cost.
What does the training cost and what do the fees include?

- Basically, cost of the training includes;
- Registration and tuition
- On-site accommodations.
- Communal meals six days a week (each student will be expected to serve on rotation for kitchen duties).
- Transportation to and from the airport and special event transportation.
- Textbooks and course materials.
- You will be responsible for your own airfare, spending cash for outings, your own meals one day per week, snacks, transportation or activities on off days.
What will the training day/week look like?
- A prayer room will be open before classes, during lunch, and after classes. Students may be required at times to attend and/or lead prayer time at the discretion of the training director.
- You will attend classes Monday through Thursday from around 9 am to noon and 1:30pm to 4 pm.
- Meals will be prepared off-site and delivered for students “on duty” that day to serve and clean up after each other.
- Friday will be a free day.
- Saturday may include scheduled off-site street evangelism events, Discipleship-Making Movement meetings, visiting tourist attractions*, or free time.
- Sunday will consist of attending and serving in a local church.
- Some required or optional evening events may be scheduled at the discretion of the director.
What will I need to bring?
- Passport
- Visa documents (once approved to attend, our coordinator will assist you in this process)
- Basic necessities such as casual, comfortable clothing and personal hygiene products. It is quite hot and humid in Chiang Mai most of the year, but classrooms are air conditioned, so consider bringing layers. Modest clothing is required.
- 240 Watt converter for electronics.
- A Bible. Teachers may reference several translations, so you may want to have a good Bible app on your smart phone if you wish to follow along.
- Spending cash. You may exchange money at the airport to Thai Baht. You may also get a SIM data card there for your smart phone.
